AS English is over

Feeling relaxing today because I just finish my AS English 8693. I think that the English paper October/November 2009 is easier than the trial exam. It has been a curse that ALG has always done not so well in English paper because their focus are on German language. Hopefully I am not under the curse :p

However, I has 3 more days to go before this semester ends – internal examination is still going on. For the following next 3 days, 3 heavy subjects await for me.

This morning, physics unit 1 that I had sat for, was quite light. So, I thought physics unit 2 was the same as well. But, the difference was hell and heaven! So, I must score for unit 3 and 4 tomorrow… Alright, I had better continue my revision.

One Malaysia

“ When I raised the subject, it was really my intention to get the authorities concerned to think about the need to work towards achieving the concept of “Bangsa Malaysia”.

One way of doing this is not to make it a requirement for the people to fill up the “race” column and identify their racial origin in all official forms and documents. ”

-Friday October 23, 2009 (thestar.com.my)

Personally, I think the idea is rather comical. Is it going to help? How could this step helps to increase awareness among Malaysians the need for integration?

Perhaps it is a small step for us today, a big step for us tomorrow.

For one more day

Procrastination is the thief of time.

What if you were given one more chance to do what you want? What if you were able to travel back time to do what you have yearn for long time? What if you had one more day to do what you had missed?

It is a nice, touching story - “For One More Day” by Mitch Albom.

Every home has a skeleton in the closet. This is what the writer keeps reminding us in the story. The theme of the story is love between a single mother and her son, Charley Benetto, whose parents were divorced. Other themes which are obvious: responsibility of a father to the family, value for life, not to succumb to failure easily and so on.

Charley Benetto tried to commit suicide after a big impact in his life: the death of his mother and the fact of not getting invitation to his daughter’s wedding.

When he was between consciousness and coma, reality and phantom, voluntariness and involuntariness; he had a chance to meet his late mother for one more day. That day, all his hidden memories in his deep heart core were unleashed.

This story will make you think of family and love. It digs out all the nostalgic moment in your life.

Lost

This will be the only post for October 2009, maybe.

These few weeks will be very busy. External and internal examinations are coming soon. But don’t know what to do. What to revise…

Just now read the book – For one more day (by Mitch Albom), it made me think of home, family and mother… The story is about a man who reached his rock bottom in his life and attempted to commit suicide but to no avail. He went back to his abandoned childhood home and – surprisingly saw his dead mother, as if everything were perfectly normal. Then, he narrated about his childhood and the how the divorce of his parents change his life… Not yet finished reading the story but I think it is a very touching piece…

Today was a nostalgic day. When I googled “listen to ai fm online”, I found webpage that can stream the broadcast online! In my secondary school days, I used to listen to ai fm  while doing my homework. Today I could experience the nostalgic moment again :) I had streamed over 0.2 gigabytes of data since afternoon. Luckily digi broadband didn’t get capped yet though the quota has already been exceeded.

Okay, now should get back on the right pave – do some German homework before going to back. Hopefully I wouldn’t overslept tomorrow :p

A brief account of these few days

I used to be a “a frog under the coconut shell” (very narrow horizon)…

Only when it is my second year in west Malaysia, I noticed a very rare phenomenon in which I had never seen before in my life. Well, this month is Ramadan – the fasting month for Muslim. Reminder: if you want to have comfortable dinner, you had better go earlier because when the Muslim are breaking their fast, the restaurant will be very very crowded.

Okay, now, back to the point. What is the rare phenomenon?

A few day ago, my friends and I were dinning in KFC at 6 o’clock. It was already very crowded at that time. I saw a lot of Muslim pre-ordering their food and just staring at it. They could only have the food at 7.20 p.m.! Oh, Lord! I knew there would be many people after 7 o’clock, so they bought the food first and wait for the time. But, how can they stand the temptation of food?

The pictures below depict ice hockey competition which was held in the ice-skating ground in Sunway Pyramid. Yesterday my friends and I went to Sunway Pyramid to celebrate Jasper birthday party earlier. Caught in heavy traffic jam, we only reached there half and hour later after the AS English trial exam which end at 4.30. Initially, we planned to dine in TGI Friday, however there was quite crowded also and no more room to accommodate 14 of us. Then, we took our time browsing through every single restaurants but to no avail.

Finally, we could have our dinner after 8.30. After dinner, we had a chance to watch a very interesting hockey match. In the first match, the invited Guest showed its breath-taking skill by defeating the Home, scoring 3 v.s. 0.

In the second match, the Home retaliated by sending a ball into the opponent’s net. A cheerful applause rose from the crowd, a few floors above the scene.

Sensing the tension given by the audience, one of the best players of the Guest (C. Wong), performed one-man-show; bypassing three opponents, he drifted, tackled and manoeuvred a ball back into the net of the Home. Now the Guest had even more confident to win the match. Before the second round finished, the Guest managed to send two more balls into the net of the Home, rendering the score 6 v.s. 1.

p.s. the Guest is the team from Hong Kong, while the Home is Malaysian team.

Sunrise… it signifies not only the start of of a new lively day, but also reminds me that the previous day had passed. Time flies… and it never looks back…

Very anticipated about the coming holidays starting from this weekend…

Can religion explain science or vice versa?

While I was browsing the net about Michael Jackson, I saw a video - “Michael Jackson has converted to Islam on 21st November 2008 (Secret behind)-full story”. There are 423 comments. The sceptics said it is just a rumour, if it is true, Michael Jackson would have announced it to the public. And, a lot of people defend about the genuineness of the news too.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BD5tqRqkWCI&feature=related

Okay, now back to the point. After that, I saw a video - “I convert to Islam after watching this video!” The video claims that Quran has explained what determines the sex of a baby before genetic engineering was founded. This sounded as if religion can explain science.

On the other hand, Physicist Leonardo Vetra in the book “Angels and Demons” claimed that science can explain religion (God). In the physics lab at CERN Switzerland, antimatter is created, this explains the creation of universe and the existence of god.

He said, matter is form from energy. But, what holds the matter in the universe in organised manner? There must be a great force (God) that holds the matters. In short, he said that science could be another pathway to understand God other than religion.

I know that what I say above is quite misleading because I express what I have read from science-fiction story, unreliable source on the internet, and plus some facts. My science knowledge is insufficient for me to make the decision whether science explains religion or vice versa.

What is your opinion? What do you think?

When a star dies - supernova

Michael jackson

Michael Jackson (1958-2009)

The death of Michael Jackson has shook the world. Hearing the bad news, Michael Jackson’s fans from all around the world are in great misery.

However, his popularity is like the wave of energy from a supernova, travelling far to every corners of the world. Even in the mini-market in Malaysia - Mydin is also broadcasting his infamous songs all day long.

His death is a great loss to the world of entertainment.

What is the universal language in the world?

If you ask others, most probably they will answer “English”. However, some may say “Chinese” “Japanese” or “German”. The interesting thing is, if you ask scientists, they will say “Mathematics”. You will find some rational below:

朋友有时像复杂的 add. maths.

我们之间的 distance 是友谊的绊脚石,

幸好友谊是我们的 midpoint,

让我们心灵互相 intercept。

欢乐是我们友情的 mode,

它的 frequency 就是 infinity。

而我们友情的 mean 就是回忆,

友情的 median 则是你和我。

我们之间的友情不需要 measure of dispersion,

因为我们的友谊是没有 limit 的 。。。

如果要把我们的友情写成一个 equation,

那它会是个 infinity。

Odd Weather, Peculiar Feeling, Strange Happening

It had been 17 hours since I last slept. Having exam in INTEC Great Hall for the afternoon until didn’t know what happened outside.

I only noticed that  it had rained in the afternoon after coming back to hostel from Dawood restaurant. I am exhausted, maybe.

Today Cendana is really quite. Usually there will be a lot of people playing basketball, football, badminton in the sport field, but today I don’t see any. Maybe some of the students finished exam already and went back. I heard that quite a lot of students from other programmes already move to Cemara hostel. Soooooo………… envy!!

My program is not going to move, most probably, I think. HEP wants us to stay with juniors this coming semester so that we can improve our German through communication.

We had appealed to move to Cemara but until now still got no update. Chemistry paper tomorrow, heavy-weight paper. Better get started!

Samuel Morse’s Birthday

27-04-09_1434

What?! Internet connection was so slow that even Google web page didn’t load properly?

No, absolutely not! Today is Samuel Morse’s birthday. Well, who is Samuel Morse, then?

Samuel Morse is the creator of a single wire telegraph system. He was born in April 27, 1791 and passed away in April 2, 1872.

Samuel Morse proved that signals could be transmitted by wire. He used pulses of current to deflect an electromagnet, which moved a marker to produce written codes on a strip of paper - the invention of Morse Code.

The following year, the device was modified to emboss the paper with dots and dashes. He gave a public demonstration in 1838, but it was not until five years later that Congress (reflecting public apathy) funded $30,000 to construct an experimental telegraph line from Washington to Baltimore, a distance of 40 miles. http://inventors.about.com/od/tstartinventions/a/telegraph.htm

Moving out Cendana

I heard that we are going to move out from Cendana straight after the end sem. exam. That’s a good news. Cemara hostel is more convenient in terms of transport, food and supermarket.

I wonder if i will still be able to see the situation below next sem. in Cemara:
